GP Clinic farewells Dr Melanie Abernethy end July

Sadly, Dr Melanie Abernethy is finishing up as a GP at Counties Medical. Her last day will be Thursday 27th July.

Melanie has been a GP in Papakura for 27 years including as a GP obstetrician for the first 20 years. She has worked for Counties Medical for the last 5 years. Prior to that, Melanie was a solo GP at Roselands Health Centre. She has worked as the Medical Director for Counties Medical in conjunction with her GP work and also as a Director, on the Board of Counties Medical.

Melanie herself has always been passionate about providing a great service to our patients and ensuring that good quality general practice continues long after she has retired. Hence she is very keen to support the new group of younger doctors coming through. Melanie has been key in making our GP practice accessible to everyone, especially those with disabilities and as such worked with the team in the new building design.
